're tracking daly city flooding. tara moriarty is live on the scene. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. you know, the damage here is pretty incredible. if you take a look behind me here, you can see where the mud and the water ended but it began all the way up the hill where those trees are and this entire neighborhood is just basically -- has mud all over the streets. about two dozen people had to be evacuated off bonnie street. the mud swept down the street. deputy was the first news -- ktvu was the first news crew to arrive on the scene. we saw the water mixed with the mud gushing down the hillside. the brake happening off luzane avenue and bonnie street. crews have it under control. the water has stopped racing down the hill. we spoke to the neighbor who called 911 initial. he said it was scary -- initially. he stayed was scary initially. >> the entire lawn was covered. there was a stream going down the street. i went downstairs and i got on my cell phone and called 911. >> reporter: the mud is up past the car tires at some -- some of the vehicles. several streets are block
: there's mud and water everywhere. this is what we're seeing throughout several blocks in this daly city neighborhood. here here on lasaine and price street and police say that it appears a water main broke somewhere up the hill so the water has been gushing down flooding the streets. some cars have water going past their tires. we have some video a little bit earlier. let's bring that up. residents have been waking up. they tell me because of the sound of o hospitallers. they're -- helicopters. there are police out here, firefighters out here. and when residents walk outside and see this, a lot of them concerned. quite a few have been evacuated from their homes and last we heard, they were going to a nearby park. we have yet to speak with any of those people and are still trying to get updates from police and firefighters, but a a big mess clean up here. when we first arrived it looked like there was gushing water and at this point everything seems to be still. maybe they're getting things under control up the hill but we will get the latest information and get back to you shortly. >>>

a flash flood had hit daly city. >> water rushing down a sandy hill covering the streets in a sea of brown mud. there was no rain today. this was all because of a water main break. it happened at around 4:30 this morning near looseain avenue, that is east of 280 near hillside park. cbs 5 reporter joe vasquez is in the neighborhood where people are still digging out of the mess tonight. joe? >> reporter: hi, dana. the mudslide came straight down this hill and as you can see, it virtually missed this entire neighborhood here. cars were the only casualties. >> it really sounded like a rushing river. >> reporter: when neighbors first heard it, they thought it might have been a rain storm and then they stepped outside and gawked. >> when you saw this rushing mudslide, what went through your mind? >> like oh, my gosh, god, please help us. >> reporter: it wasn't an act of god, it was an 8-inch pipeline that burst, blowing out a daly city hillside sending 45,000 gallons of water down a hill creating a massive mud fall that consumed a dozen cars along the avenue. the owners could only watch as the

"time" magazine is reporting that petraeus's biographer turned mistress once toyed with entering politics. she reportedly told acquaintances backing in jul that will gop "money men" had approached her about a senate run from north carolina. she says she was "tempted." "time" magazine reports but petraeus was strongly against it. is it "time" is also reporting on the internal fbi struggle over whether to tell the white house what and whom they were investigating. it turns out the white house wasn't informed till the night of the election. three days before general petraeus resigned. on a personal level, general petraeus is telling aides and confidantes that he is devastated by the pain and suffering that he has caused. and that brings me to another piece of reporting that you need to hear for
